Mom's Surprise 40th Birthday Party!

I am so glad that my family and I were able to pull off throwing my mom a surprise party for her 40th birthday this year! I could hardly keep the secret this long. My mom is a wonderful and hardworking woman and she really deserves to have all of her friends and family together to celebrate.

It was 70s and 80s themed, so I just wore some of my normal clothes, haha.
(Mom was told that she was going to an 80s themed charity gala)

Cake in her favorite colors!

Mom's turn on the bull!

A favorite moment from the evening
(aka old people/dads love dressing up for any reason; I guarantee you'll never see this much enthusiasm and participation at any college-age costume party)

Hunter taking the bull by the horns like a pro...

Vintage Jewelry From My Grandmother's Jewelry Box

Earlier this month, my precious poppa gave me some of my grandmother's vintage jewelry from the seventies, and I've been so excited to wear them. I inherited her unique bohemian style and love of all things turquoise.

I have also noticed that I have yet to post any fashion entries, and there isn't a better way to introduce my personal style to the blogsphere than with pieces that are so dear to me.

My grandmommy unfortunately passed away this past St. Patrick’s Day and while going through her things, my mother and grandfather thought I’d enjoy these pieces.  My grandmother and I were obviously a lot alike, and I am so grateful to have these little pieces of her with me.  She was such an amazing lady, and although I miss her tremendously, I take solace in knowing that she’s lookin’ out for me.

one of my favorites

I've been wearing some of the smaller rings as midi-rings, like this turquoise one here.

Large statement necklace that I cannot wait to wear!

Feelin' like Stevie Nicks <#

gorgeous assortment of cuffs and bracelets in turquoise and green

one of my favorite combos, simple turquoise bracelet and a large mother of pearl ring

Take me back

This past Father’s Day, I drove up to a little town outside of Gadsden, Alabama called Altoona to spend Father’s Day with my poppa. After losing my grandmother on St. Patrick’s Day, he and I had became very close and the time we spend together quickly transforms into bouts of nostalgia from going through old photographs and digging up old memories, and I thought I’d share.
