What's in My Beauty Bag? Hair Products

Wanna know how I tame this mane?

Well you're about to find out.
For the basics, shampoo and conditioner, I use Tresemme.  My mom and I have pretty much always used it since I was little, and it's always worked for me.  My hair is naturally very heavy, oily, and flat.  So, the 24-hour volume shampoo really strips the excess oil from my hair to give it a lift.

As you can see from my shameless selfie, I my hair is dyed in the ombre style, leaving my ends bleached, and inevitably somewhat damaged.  My whole head can't take any conditioner whatsoever, but I use this anti-breakage product to combat the dryness and split ends due to the bleach.

Before I style my hair with a flat iron (to create loose waves), I like to spray this heat protection spray on the ends as well.  It keeps the bleached sections from becoming more damaged, and gives it some softness.  Every brand has their own version, but I really like this Herbal Essences kind the best.  It smells the best!

I use this awesome dry shampoo for whenever I go a few days without shampooing my hair, which is actually good for it, but can leave it lookin' a little nasty.  Brush some of this stuff in, and you have instant body and texture, plus no oil.  It's a godsend, really.

My hair unfortunately lacks any sort of texture, which makes it really hard to hold a style without tons of hairspray, and I honestly thought that I'd always have to deal with this.  That is, I did until I stumbled upon this Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray.    It's a really light formula with a great scent, and you simply spray this salt water all over your hair, damp or dry, brush it in, and your hair will instantly have texture, making styling it, especially with long loose waves like mine, so so so much easier.

I love big hair.  Maybe it's a Southern thing.  The higher your hair, the closer you are to God, right?  I want hair like a mermaid meets Dolly Parton.  To achieve this, I use this really great Vidal Sassoon volumizing hair spray.
Although, I do need to give a lot of credit to my hair stylist, Tayler at the J. Scott Salon in Hoover.  She cuts my hair exactly how I want it, and I always leave feeling much lighter, but I'm not missing like four inches of hair either.  I'm really hard to please when it comes to hair stylists, and I truthfully get my hair cut two times a year, maybe, but she's awesome.

Also in my volume emergency kit are these root boosters.  The Garnier Fructis one is a thicker liquid, that you pump out and massage on the roots of your hair, I usually put in on the top of my scalp, where my part-line is, and where my roots start towards the sides of my face for a fuller look.  The Catwalk booster is an aresol hair-spray with a special spout of sorts, that allows you to apply the spray with a little more precision, to get right on the roots, rather than all over your hair like hair spray.  They both work well for certain days, it kind of depends on the temperament of my hair when I decide which to use. But I don't use a root-booster every day.

As for color, I've used these boxes for a while now, but I'm starting to get it done at a salon more.  It's nice to feel pampered, okay?  The L'Oreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss is a semi-permanent color in a dark brown, a few shades darker than my natural color, compliments my skin tone and eyes better, looks cleaner, and since it's a 28 wash shampoo (although, for me, it lasts longer than that), I don't have to worry about root touch-ups, and I can go a while without dying it if I want, and it doesn't look unnatural in-between treatments.

The second color is the ombre kit, and it works really well.  I use the color recommended for dark brown hair, which is a less intense bleach, but they have a lot of shades to choose from.
